Women’s Legal Status Act 1923
An Act to amend the Law with respect to Disqualifications on account of Sex.
[Assented to 22 December 1923.]
Be it enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: —
This Act may be cited as the Women’s Legal Status Act 1923.
2.Removal of disqualification on grounds of sex
A person shall not be disqualified by sex from the exercise of any public function, or from being appointed to or holding any civil or judicial office or post, or from being admitted and entitled to practise as a legal practitioner (as defined in the Legal Practice Act 2003), or from entering or assuming or carrying on any other profession, any law or usage to the contrary notwithstanding.
