Mental Health Amendment Act 2015
An Act to amend the Mental Health Act 2014.
[Assented to 23 November 2015]
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:
This is the Mental Health Amendment Act 2015.
This Act comes into operation as follows —
(a)sections 1 and 2 — on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent;
(b)sections 3 to 6 — on the day on which the Mental Health Act 2014, other than sections 1 and 2, comes into operation;
(c)sections 7 and 8 — on the day on which the Mental Health Legislation Amendment Act 2014 Part 3 comes into operation.
This Act amends the Mental Health Act 2014.
In section 4 delete the definition of psychiatrist and insert:
psychiatrist means a medical practitioner who is —
(a)a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists; or
(b)a person, or a person in a class of person, prescribed by the regulations for this definition;
In section 186(2)(a) delete “authorised”.
In section 420 delete “therapy”.
In section 591(3)(a) delete “Public Sector Management (Redeployment and Redundancy) Regulations 1994” and insert:
Public Sector Management (Redeployment and Redundancy) Regulations 2014
In section 592(1) delete “section 520(5).” and insert:
section 520(6).
