Constitution Amendment (Demise of the Crown) Act 2017
An Act to amend the Constitution Act 1889.
[Assented to 25 October 2017]
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:
This is the Constitution Amendment (Demise of the Crown) Act 2017.
This Act comes into operation as follows —
(a)sections 1 and 2 — on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent;
(b)the rest of the Act — on the day after that day.
This Act amends the Constitution Act 1889.
After section 74 insert:
The demise of the Sovereign —
(a)has the effect of transferring all the functions, duties, powers, authorities, rights, privileges and dignities belonging to the Crown to the Sovereign’s successor; but
(b)has no other effect in law for any purpose.
