Tobacco Control (Statement on Vending Machines) Regulations 1991

These regulations were repealed by the Tobacco Products Control Act 2006 s. 126 (No. 5 of 2006) as at 31 Jul 2006 (see s. 2 and Gazette 25 Jul 2006 p. 2701).

Tobacco Control (Statement on Vending Machines) Regulations 1991

1.Citation

These regulations may be cited as the Tobacco Control (Statement on Vending Machines) Regulations 1991 1.

2.Commencement

These regulations shall come into operation on 9 August 1991.

3.Statement on vending machines

(1)The statement referred to in section 11(2)(b) of the Act shall be in the form of 2 notices — 

(a)one of which shall consist of a health warning and one of which shall state — 

“IT IS AN OFFENCE TO SELL OR SUPPLY CIGARETTES AND TOBACCO PRODUCTS TO ANY PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS. PENALTY UP TO $20 000.”; and

(b)each of which shall be displayed in a sign occupying a total area of not less than 210 mm in height and 300 mm in width, and shall be written in letters which — 

(i)appear in Helvetica Bold Capitals;

(ii)are reproduced in white on a black background; and

(iii)are not less than 15 mm in height.

(2)In subregulation (1), health warning means either of the following warnings — 

(a)“SMOKING KILLS”; or

(b)“SMOKING IS ADDICTIVE”.
