Criminal Code Amendment (Corruption Penalties) Act 2002

An Act to amend The Criminal Code.
[Assented to 28 June 2002]
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:
1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Criminal Code Amendment (Corruption Penalties) Act 2002.
2. Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
3. The Criminal Code amended
The amendments in this Act are to The Criminal Code*.

4. Section 83 amended
Section 83 is amended by deleting “3 years.” and inserting instead —
“ 7 years. ”.
5. Section 85 amended
Section 85 is amended by deleting “3 years.” and inserting instead —
“ 7 years. ”.
6. Section 88 amended
Section 88 is amended by deleting “3 years.” and inserting instead —
“ 7 years. ”.
7. Section 132 amended
Section 132 is amended as follows:
(a) by deleting “misdemeanour” and inserting instead —
“ crime ”;
(b) by deleting “3 years.” and inserting instead —
“ 7 years. ”.
8. Section 136 amended
Section 136 is amended as follows:
(a) by deleting “an indictable offence.” and inserting instead —
“ a crime and is liable to imprisonment for 7 years. ”;
(b) by deleting the second and third paragraphs.
